What was the highlight of Hotel Casa Ballarin

It is calm, but not complete.

Reception 24 hours, good air-conditioning in the bedroom, minibar to keep your drinks cold, location was good with some 24 hours stores near.

WiFi connection issues for more than a whole day, no laundry services available on holiday, no city phones book to look for phone numbers I needed to call to get some info, no good view from bedrooms, no hot water... It was just a little warm, and beds were not than comfortable.

What was the highlight of Hotel Casa Ballarin

Decent hotel, just a few blocks from Bocagrande beach.

Quiet boutique (appears to be an old house renovated into a hotel with 5 or 6 rooms on the top floor with the owner living on the bottom. Rooms had comfortable beds, hot water and great a/c. No breakfast, but there is coffee in the AM (sometimes you have to ask them to make it). Across the street from a large supermarket, which was convenient. Rooms had mini-refrigerator for food as well.

Reception staff are not warm/friendly. They are either unfriendly or timid (couldn't really tell). You don't get a key to the front door so every time you come back, someone has to open the door for you, which was a bit awkward. They charged me $10,000 Colombian pesos per hour when I asked for a courtesy late check out.

Huge rooms, hot shower, great internet, TV, strong air con,...

Huge rooms, hot shower, great internet, TV, strong air con, fridge in room, close to beach area, 30min walk to main town or short taxi ride. We walked and it wasn't an issue. Staff were amazing, lending us a knife to cut fruit and looking after our bag whilst we killed time waiting for our night bus.

Lack of natural light. Also somewhere to make coffee or cook would be a massive plus

Nice little hotel perfect for resting

New small boutique hotel conveniently located on a not so busy street the center of Bocagrande, 3 blocks from the beaches and 2 blocks from restaurants and grocery stores. Room and bathroom were spacious and quiet, the king-size bed was very comfy. Good & quiet A/C and good WiFi internet. Overall a good value for the money considering the location.

Only minor things to note: Not much of a view from the window, and a more solid slightly longer shower curtain would prevent water spilling on the bathroom floor.

We found this gem at the 11th hour. It's an oasis: quiet, spotlessly clean (sheets and towels changed every other day), kindly and helpful owners and a perfect base for exploring Cartagena.

24h supermarket close by.

No water pressure in the shower. No chair in the room. Windows to a noisy street and an always lit staircase. Really bad value for the money (we paid 100€ per night).

Very good.

Nice rooms. Comfortable beds. The wifi was working without any complaints. Rooms were very clean. Staff was very nice and helpful. They helped us arrange a tour. Fridge in the room which we appreciated. For us location was perfect. Close to gym, 24 hour supermarket (very nice indeed), great restaurants in walking distance and only 3 blocks from Bocagrande beach. Possible to walk to centro. Circa 20-30 minutes. Otherwise we just took a taxi. Prices are around 8.000 colombian pesos to centro. All in all we had a great stay and can highly recommend this place.

What was the highlight of Hotel Casa Ballarin

Great Location

It wasn't perfect, but I was very happy overall. For $35/night, it's a great deal. It's in the heart of Bocagrande, three blocks from the beach (it's a city beach, fyi). If you want expensive high rise hotels with amazing views, they're also here, but if you don't mind giving up the view to save some money,, this is terrific. Plenty of restaurants around, it's completely safe, and very relaxing. It'll serve you well if you're fluent in Spanish; you may have a hard time communicating otherwise. (I don't know how good their English is, as I speak Spanish, but got the impression it'd be a struggle for them.)

I have nothing to complain about here. I enjoyed my week, and would stay again.

The owner was so friendly and helpful.

The owner was so friendly and helpful. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. It was a great stay!

It is really hard to fault. The only thing I would say is there was no window or air con in the bathroom so it was very hot.

This place in overall is super great for what you pay

This place has beautiful rooms with a unique feeling. The staff is super nice and helpful. They cleaned our room really well every day. Great value for money.

The WiFi doesn't really work in the actual rooms, only in the lobby. I wish we had had more than just big towels, you know, for drying your hands.
